If I become mod, that pun will be punishable by 500 lashings.

Hahahahahaha
That is still a cool B-17, despite the cheap punnery.

My puns don't come cheap. Nothing in the aerospace business does.

I see your JB-17G and raise you a Lancaster with a Rolls-Royce Dart in the nose.
Also, I see what you did there.

That had to sound weird.

I just looked at this photo again and realized that it says USAF on the wing. First time I’ve ever seen that on a B-17. And it has the contemporary roundel, too. Neat.

If we still had annotations I’d point out that your airplane has some kind of weird growth on its nose.

I like to pretend that I have an historian’s eye for detail. Even if it takes two tries.

just shows your addiction. pretty sure each of us on this car forum know the stupid differences between the mid-year refresh on our car of choice that literally no one else notices.

I see your Lancaster and raise you an Avro Lincoln with a two stroke, supercharged, turbocharged, turbocompound diesel Napier Nomad in the nose, naturally driving twin contra rotating props.
It was also equipped with an afterburner (because why not?) and when running properly was able to power the plane unaided.

Why not indeed. That’s awesome.
